MADJAPAHIT EMPIRE (Mt.Mayapay)
Looming Southwest of the Agusan Valley is the majestic mountain plateau. According to historians, Mt.Mayapay got its name from the ancient Madjapahit Empire bear much meaning and influence of Butuan’s pre-historic and archeological discoveries which supports it’s claims as the first kingdom in archipelago.
The 700-meter Madjapahit Empire (Mt.Mayapay) with its unique looped off top is the land mark of Butuan City. It rises to 2,214ft (675meter) above the sea level.
